Within one of its key business segments, the company provides highly specialized equipment and process solutions to customers in the polymer and process industry. The organization combines international resources with a strong local market approach and is currently in a phase of strengthening its leadership team in Asia. To support this next development phase, our client is creating a new strategic role focused on Virgin Polymers.
Job Scope
As Global Application Manager – Virgin Polymers, you will take on a newly created strategic role combining technical application expertise, sales support, and business development. You will serve as a key technical point of contact for the virgin polymers segment and help the business strengthen its market position across applications such as PE, PP, PC, ABS, and related materials.
Working in a matrix structure, you will collaborate closely with sales, product management, engineering, and marketing teams across regions. The role is based in Taicang, China and requires frequent travel, including within the local market, depending on customer needs and business priorities.
Your Responsibilities
Technical Application & Sales Support
- Act as the global technical point of contact for the Virgin Polymers application segment
- Support sales teams throughout the technical sales process with application knowledge and solution design
- Define tailor-made technical solutions in direct interaction with customers
- Lead the technical phase of the sales cycle and support the preparation of quotations and proposals
- Identify customer application requirements and translate them into internal product and engineering specifications
Business Development & Market Access
- Drive proactive business development activities and support market access in new application areas
- Support key accounts in close cooperation with regional sales teams
- Coordinate strategic partnerships and selected collaborative initiatives
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Develop technical documentation, standards, and training materials to support the broader sales organization
- Work closely with product management, engineering, and marketing to build compelling application concepts and value propositions
Ideal Candidate Profile
- University degree in polymer engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical discipline
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in extrusion technology, polymer processing, compounding, or related application-focused industrial environments
- Strong exposure to virgin polymer applications, especially PE, PP, PC, and ABS
- Experience from the machinery / equipment side is strongly preferred
- Good understanding of technical sales processes, customer application support, and business development
- Ability to bridge customer requirements with internal technical and commercial teams
- Strong communication and influencing skills in an international matrix organization
- Hands-on, self-driven, and comfortable building new structures from the ground up
- Fluent English and Chinese language skills
- Willingness to travel frequently, mainly within Asia and depending on project needs
