Our client is a highly successful mechanical engineering company with several thousand employees in over 90 countries worldwide. The company has been a technical leader in its market segment for many years and has a very significant market share. This family-owned company is investing in its future with a long-term perspective.
To continue recognizing customer needs at an early stage and to further strengthen the company’s innovative power, we are looking for a convincing personality to serve as Vice President Global Product Owner (m/f/d) at the earliest possible date. You will be based in China and spend 40-50% of the time in Germany. This position reports to the Global Vice President and leads a team of around 150 people.
Responsibilities
- Responsibility and management of the entire global business of the product line with sales in the three-digit million range.
- Management and further development of a competitive product portfolio, including the creation of value-added concepts.
- Analysis of customer and market requirements, and management of international sales activities.
- Development and implementation of a global product group strategy.
- Definition of the global product line roadmap in accordance with market requirements and the overall strategy of the business unit.
- Responsibility for, pursuit, and further development of the two-product group strategy (Premium and Midmarket).
- Work with the Technical Support team for onsite troubleshooting.
- Management of the phase-in and phase-out processes at the product level.
- Management of priorities and resources in application technology.
- Monitoring and fulfillment of product-related legal requirements.
- Development and implementation of products in new applications and possibly new product categories.
- Participation in the company’s cultural change process towards greater internationalization and globalization.
Requirements
- Successfully completed university studies, ideally with a technical background (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, textile engineering, etc.).
- More than ten years of professional experience and several years of (international) management responsibility, ideally in the textile machinery industry, the international textile and clothing industry, or the mechanical and special plant engineering sector (printing, packaging, etc.).
- Know-how and expertise in the textile machinery industry preferred.
- Experience in analyzing markets and customer needs.
- Knowledge of developmental processes.
- Sound knowledge of product management.
- IT affinity, knowledge of development tools in mechanical engineering.
- Ideally, knowledge of SAP software.
- Confident handling of the common MS-Office products.
- Readiness to travel on business for international service is an essential mindset: 50% presence in China, 50% in Germany.
- Intercultural, global professional experience with a focus on China (Asia).
- Business proficiency in English and German, and elementary knowledge of Chinese are must-haves.
