Job scope
As a Chief Development Officer in China (based in Taicang, Jiangsu) you will manage and grow the R&D and technical team base in the wire harness sectors by localizing the solutions and products.
Responsibilities
- Understanding of the automotive market, especially the Chinese market and translate these to Board of Directors for company strategy decision
- Be responsible for R&D and IE strategy for the China market
- Manage the R&D and IE teams
- Plan strategic roadmaps, development projects and set specific project targets
- Initiate, lead, and oversee end-to-end engineering projects
- Ensure high product competition, quality, cost, market availability, and customer satisfaction
- Coordinate the transfer of product development from the headquarter to the Chinese organization
- Organize international collaboration between headquarter and Chinese plants
- Support in the preparation, formulation, and implementation of business and market strategies
- Represent product management and development as a competent and reliable partner to sales, operations, suppliers and customers
- Drive talent management initiatives on all levels within the organization in close alignment with the local HR as needed to ensure the engineering competitive competence level
- Lead strategic customer dialogues with global decision makers to identify customer’s business objectives, future market requirements and challenges of the Chinese automotive industry
- Identify new growth opportunities based on market knowledge, personal network and technology trends in the harness industry
- Provide leadership and guidance to the local R&D and IE team, introducing an overarching management system, fostering a cohesive work environment, and facilitating employee development and training
Requirements
- Automotive harness industry experience
- 20+ years’ experience, 10+ managerial experience
- Strong management and leadership skills to build a strong interface to the headquarters and represent the strategy of the stakeholders
- Strong affinity to Chinese and European culture
- English speaker is a must, German and Chinese is preferred
- You have successfully completed your university degree and have more than 10 years of international and leadership experience
- Experience in the automotive mobility industry, preferred harness or electronics industry
- Strong communication skills, including experience in presenting to and engaging with high-level stakeholders
